As I stepped out of the taxi I knew I had finally arrived. I was home. I was where I belonged.

Yet this was my first visit. How could this be?

I was already in love with this eclectic, beautiful, ugly, amazing, fantastic, and sometimes brutal concrete jungle.

I felt such a sense of belonging that it’s impossible to describe. I’d always felt a longing in my heart to be here. I have no reason why.

A feeling of nostalgia for a place I’d never visited.

This is my city. This is New York City.
